Metabolic diseases are one of the major global public health problems. Regular physical activity is associated with a low risk of developing type 2 diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. The Weekend Warrior model involves performing the recommended weekly amount of physical activity for 1-2 days a week, while remaining inactive the rest of the time. Maintaining physical activity within this model in observational studies has shown a similar reduction in the risk of mortality from both all causes and cardiovascular diseases. The main objective of this study is to conduct a systematic review of the effect of the Weekend Warrior physical activity model on the risk of metabolic diseases.
