The article discusses the concept of "nonviolent communication", its structural components and the algorithm of use in interpersonal communication of coaches and athletes. The results of a questionnaire of trainers on the definition of theoretical knowledge, experience in the use and formation of skills of nonviolent and constructive communication are presented. It was determined that in case of problematic situations (mistakes in training, loss at competitions, overweight, violation of discipline, etc.), from 70 to 92 % of coaches more often choose behaviors in which they use a nonviolent communication approach to build constructive interaction with athletes. From 10 to 27 % of coaches, when problematic situations arise, use traditional ways of communication, using verbal aggression, ignoring, and threats. The reasons for aggressive behavior in sports are the coaches' own experience (52,3 %), personal failures, low salary, family problems, unrealized personal ambitions (47,7 %), leadership style at a sports school, strained relations with the management staff (25 %), etc. 86,4% of coaches noted that professional burnout of coaches can provoke aggressive behavior towards their athletes
